Toronto Days is available through Blurb Books and Amazon.
This is the third book of my Toronto photos. It covers the years 1980-1995–before the condo boom, smart phones, and widespread internet use. There was less traffic, houses were more affordable, and human interaction was more face to face. There have been lots of changes over the years but I don’t think it has altered the spirit and essence of this wonderful city. I find myself wishing that I had shot more colour film back in those days. But the reality is that I had a black and white darkroom and wasn’t so interested in colour. The added cost was also a factor.
I had an exhibition of this work in March 2018 at Gallery 310, Ryerson University. It was good to actually see the photos on a wall, as opposed to a monitor. It was also great connecting with new people and seeing old friends. I hope to have more exhibitions in the future.
From the introduction: “I spent several years in the ’80s and ’90s doing street photography in Toronto. The negatives lay dormant until 2016, when my journey of rediscovery began.”
